Maybe we need to be reminded.....

Dear Friends,   We recently had an inquiry from a well known Christian youth ministry about the use of our camp one week this coming summer. I was quite happy to receive their call and even more elated when they they told me that they were looking for a long-term relationship with a camp such as ours.   In my mind I could not imagine a more perfect “partnership” based upon what I vaguely knew about the reputation of this Christian youth ministry.  But as we talked more and more, it became obvious that this relationship would not work and we had to politely walk away from a “deal”.   I don’t want to suggest that we are in any...

Turning to another face…

Dear Friends When you are under pressure and uncertainty all day long,  it can leave you with a sick feeling in the morning.  Yes, God is sovereign, and He is a good and He is a God of love. But many folks do wake up sick, or in pain, or with a broken heart and with an uneasy stomach about all that’s got to be done.  God permit pain and suffering——just look at the cross, the suffering of the saints and prophets throughout history, et al.  His “goodness” does not prevent us from suffering at times.   But I have learned that financial pressure (suffering) is a pain unlike any other.  There’s no medication you can take for it...

What if we have it ALL wrong?

I wonder if we teach and preach enough about how to understand disappointment. Do we talk enough in our churches about what to do when we face imminent failure, or what to do when we cannot hear God for a long time,  or we are confused as to what He is telling us? Many people talk to me about these things because they are experiencing it——and I so am I——and so did King David, the prophets, Mother Theresa, and every leader in the Christian faith. It’s not uncommon, but talking about it appears to be taboo.   In everyday life, sometimes quiet is needed in order to prepare for, and to be able to appreciate with all our senses, the...

Sins versus sin.....

Things are not happening in our country (or the world) as they “should”—anyone can see that.  And if you look around you, you’ll probably note the same disappointment in our neighborhoods, families and even in our mirrors.  But what frightens me is that for the life of me I am not seeing “progress”. Quite the opposite, things to be going in the wrong direction all around me.  Is something wrong with my eyes and ears, or are things getting worse?  With all our technology, medical marvels, world-wide social connection, etc, how is that darkness seems to be taking over light?   I have watched recently  how our leaders and abroad have responded when they are accused of wrongdoing or...

Thank you for helping us reach our August Goal!

Dear Friends, A few weeks ago, we posted an “urgent” need to raise $90,000 within a few days. Thanks to the support of many that were touched by our ministry, we met the goal. Thank you. This was an inspiring answer to prayer! We are now attempting to complete a drive for the rest of our needs for the fall of 2019. As you may recall, the devastating fire of 2017 and subsequent smaller-than-expected settlement with our insurance company left us financially strapped. The balance we must raise through donations prior to the end of the year is $300,000.  While the deposits and payments made from 2020 camper tuition could be used to address the final debts carried over since 2017, we...
