The glory of God filling me............

The Vineyard Dear Friends:   Ezekiel 43: 1-5  “Then the man brought me to the gate facing east,  and I saw the glory of the God of Israel coming from the east. His voice was like the roar of rushing waters, and the land was radiant with his glory…..The glory of the Lord entered the temple through the gate facing east.  Then the Spirit lifted me up and brought me into the inner court, and the glory of the Lord filled the temple.”   Some moments these visions of the glory of God remind me of where I came from (the mind of God) and my destiny (the eternal house of God).  I yearn for this more and more, and...

When business gets in the way with ministry....

The Vineyard Dear Friends:   Today was one of those days that I got “nothing accomplished”. That’s not to say that I did not work or “do” something, but my agenda and plans where shot because of interruptions, surprises, visitors, unexpected problems with our on-line bank every imaginable hurdle to me keep me from getting the things done that I felt should or “had” to do.   But now it’s the end of the day and I am writing this little essay.  Yes, I missed my workout, I did not answer every email and I did not return each phone call. I did not reach my personal goals with the camp and I failed to take care of all the...

The big lie..........

The Vineyard Dear Friends:   Today David seemed to be speaking to directly to me when he spoke in Psalm 55:22, “Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.”   The great thing to remember about verses like this, is that when I read them and chose to pray and believe that are as true for me as they were for David, or Paul or John, I must also consider the condition of the heart those that wrote those words. When David wrote these words he believed them because he was living a life that was pleasing to God, and he was humbly seeking God’s favor.    I have...

America's preacher died today.......

The Vineyard Dear Friends:   Billy Graham died today—-99 years old.  I had the privilege to briefly meet him on three occasions.  Two times I simply shook his hand after he preached.  The third time I meet him I was a cabin counselor at a camp near his home. I was walking around the camp lake and saw a man fishing in the lake, and I knew that he was not a camp staff. So I politely walked up to him, tapped him on his shoulder and told him that the lake was private and that he should not be fishing there. The man turned around and told me that he had permission from the owner.  The man, it...

Faces of angels

The Vineyard Dear Friends:   The book of acts states that one of the first martyrs, Stephen, had “the face of an angel”, as he was being accused of sedition, blasphemy, etc.  That’s always struck me as something quite unique in the Bible.  I can’t think of anyone else ever referred to in this manner.   Since Donatello first produced “cherubs” in his paintings,  we’ve had this whimsical idea that angels are chubby,  naked little winged babies, flying around church steeples. But that idea is nowhere found in scripture. Are the angels dazzling… handsome…awesome….striking in appearance?  Yes, that’s biblical; but not the renaissance notion of a pretty, soft,  feminine or androgynous being.  The “face of an angel” that I think...
